“Will the fires and floods finally awaken us, turn our attention back to the living Earth? Or have we lost that connection, that place of belonging? How long before we are forced to wake from this nightmare of alienation? I used to imagine how Spring would come after the hard Winter of materialism, after all those years when we put profit before people, before the more-than-human world.

The fires remind us that our present story is broken, its myth of progress and endless economic growth fostering ecocide.

Nature untouched, thrives.

Meanwhile, in East Africa, the Somali pastoralists have already moved on, after watching their animals die in the years of drought. They’ve left the land they’d walked for centuries, moving into camps. They know that climate change brings hunger and migration, as they suffer the effects of our use of fossil fuels. They did not put carbon into the atmosphere. They are too poor to pollute. But they are among the first to suffer.

I am sure we will find a victim to blame, anything to escape the deep knowing that our way of life is over, that we cannot continue with this story of exploitation and consumerism, this plague that is burning the land.

Years ago I had a series of visions of the future, of a civilization waiting to be born. I was shown how we would find new ways of healing, bringing together the wisdom of the shaman with the techniques of modern medicine. I saw how we would be given a technology as simple as photosynthesis that could provide us all with free and unpolluting energy from the sun. I saw earth magic coming alive, plants speaking to us again after centuries of silence.

The pandemic has taught us about uncertainty, and the need to listen even more closely to the Earth, to sense her present imbalance.

I used to think that I would live to see the future of my visions. Now I only hope that my grandchildren’s grandchildren will walk in a kinder world, alive to a multidimensional kinship, knowing that everything they can see, hear, and touch is sacred.”

Anthropocentrism | Vandana Shiva on Social and Environmental Injustice of Industrialism – We are powerful beings in a powerful world

The two blogs I’m currently posting are intertwined, in that they are both on the subject of anthropocentrism, social and environmental injustice and the destruction of the natural world (including occupation of humans) through industrialization and the current capitalism paradigm.

I had a conversation last evening with an economics student who revealed that the farmers in the USA are squeezed out by licensing and the corporate industrialization of the farming ‘industry’, I recalled instantly that this theme replicates what Hasan Minhaj expressed in his show ‘the Patriot Act’ on the Marijuana industry. Small farmers forced out of the industry because it has become so massive and industrialized.

Vandana Shiva – physicist turned ecological activist – has been an advocate for Indian farmers, tens of thousands of whom were driven to suicide by the actions of Monsanto, who put a patent of ownership on farmers’ seeds. Monsanto is the same company involved in the production of industrial chemicals and insecticides (RoundUp) from their initial creation of nerve gas. She speaks of the arrogance of technocrats and industrialists.

In this interview with FRANCE 24, Vandana Shiva states that Bill Gates ‘is continuing the work of Monsanto’.

In it, she quotes Mahatma Gandhi

the “labor of our body in the service of the earth”.

She states, “We live in a powerful world of energy and as humans, have access to this creative power of the universe through aligning ourselves spiritually – dharma – with the right action.”

I first learned of Vandana Shiva when she spoke at one of the many events of the two week long educational and activism gathering – theplacetob – in Paris, coinciding with the COP 21 in 2015. Among the speakers, Naomi Klein.

We need to recognize – become recognizant – of this power, and occupy our own spiritual paths, intuitively – in community with all of the natural world.

I just decided to post this letter of introduction which I’m sending to Charter Schools, to each of my blogs, since perhaps someone who’s involved in education, eBook marketing and publishing, with an affiliation with Charter Schools or knows-how in marketing an educational eBook, to provide me with advice or send someone my way!

It’s not finished, but I thought I’d start with the back-end, or front-end, getting it out there.

…I’m looking for the appropriate person/department (academic materials, material acquisition) to market my eBook, which I believe will be of interest to students as an auxiliary learning tool.

This science fantasy adventure involves a spiritual quest (no religious affiliation), full of art and science. The adventure involves the quest of a young woman and the characters she meets in her journey, into an upside-down world. Not really upside down, but a place affected by electromagnetism that has lower gravity levels as one climbs to this place. The people there, where the main character is journeying to, have a correspondingly intrinsic capacity of transparent thought. They are conscious of each others’ thoughts and consequently incapable of telling lies. Yet most of the story takes place as Adora journeys there – as there could be sequels!

Frankly, as of June 1st (almost two weeks since posting this), after editing and moving around information as well as researching and editing bibliography sources, the information below has been updated, and still is no longer current! Nevertheless, you get the gist of the contents! I’ve been working hard within a strict time limit – a really good thing.

The approximately 150 page eBook (Completion end of June, 2017), is designed to be read from beginning to end, or to be read in segments. Almost every page introduces a particular subject; including graphs, charts and links to further investigation of that topic. The online Table of Contents and Bibliography allow the reader to choose from various educational subjects, ranging from biology, climatology, and geography to physics, These scientific topics of inquiry are introduced as they arise in the story; with the inference that these hypothetical events in a fantastical environment, could actually transpire.

Here are a few pages of the bibliography, also subject to change. I’m using google docs in order to also alphabetize the bibliography by subject.

Adora & Vitali: A Spin on the Matter of Motion has a plethora of art accompanying the science links, providing the reader with the capability to further investigate a topic. It is a colorful and refreshing learning tool for students and adults. The eBook is a stepping stone of intrigue for subsequent exploration into a multitude of scientific topics.

I’m an independent contractor who has been writing two blogs since 2009, I’m particularly interested in environmental sustainability, renewable energy, (DIY) do-it-yourself practices to reduce one’s carbon footprint, reinvesting in the community and especially the topics of wildlife and animal habitat preservation.
