Rainforest Destruction – Loss to Palm Oil Plantations linked to PepsiCo | Here’s what you can do.

Before even viewing the video, I was very informed just reading the information from the organizations (Sum of Us & Rainforest Action Network) who investigate, research, compile information and educate us. They use their time and expertise to investigate these habitats and their destruction, and help us all, as we are many, many people, to take action and make the difference. Each of us have the chance to learn and communicate information.

Funny, that the people for the most part who eat products made from this stuff (palm oil products),
have poorer diets, get less nutrition from the ‘addictive’ and ‘dead’ junk food filled with non-descript ingredients, and typically have less education about how to eat properly. Other than standing on a street corner with a sign that states what eating this product is doing to the most precious habitats giving life to precious creatures who are losing their land at an enormously fast rate, what we can do is educate one another. This is the only earth with its abundance of phenomenal life, that we have. We can change our habits, our eating and buying habits. We can take the time to learn more about what the most effective ways are to keep these places alive and thriving. Most of our actions can be felt through what we buy. We can take these actions independently, and certainly we can’t go up against these huge organizations and manufacturing firms alone, if we are not informed about them. It is these huge industries like Nestlé who rob people of their own water – dipping into water tables – and then sell it back to them for profit and huge corporate giants like PepsiCo who only have profits in their sphere. It is our addiction to oil, thinking that we need these oversized vehicles; that the lack of health and fitness of many people who choose to drive and feel esteem and protection for their vehicles, when there is so, so much more to what life is all about. Let’s continue to do something, to do more.

It is these Big Three buyers who are causing this destruction, rather ominous abstract sounding companies that we wouldn’t have a clue about, if it weren’t for the environmental organizations who do the research to inform us. Let me grab just this one line to r e i t e r a t e what we are dealing with.

“The only place on earth where elephants, tigers, orangutans and rhinos live in the same forest, Leuser is considered one of the world’s top priority conservation areas.”

shocking rainforest destruction linked to pepsi and clearcutting to create palm oil plantations

“A new report is shining a spotlight on some of the most ruthless destruction of elephant habitat we’ve ever seen. And the massive forest clearance is linked to the suppliers of snack foods sold by companies like PepsiCo across the world.

A field investigation by our partners at Rainforest Action Network uncovered the devastating clearance of already endangered forests in the Leuser Ecosystem. The only place on earth where elephants, tigers, orangutans and rhinos live in the same forest, the Leuser Ecosystem is considered one of the world’s top priority conservation areas. It’s also the source of drinking water and livelihoods for millions of people in the Indonesian province of Aceh.

But Leuser’s critical importance is apparently of no concern to rogue palm oil producer PT. ABN. The company has been illegally — and rapidly — turning lowland forests into palm oil plantations despite being ordered out by the Indonesian government. So who has been buying PT. ABN’s conflict palm oil? Wilmar palm oil refineries, supplier of brands like PepsiCo, McDonald’s, and Nestlé.”

Health is Circulation | Letting things Flow | Diarrhetic vs Constipative (made up that word !-)

I’m full of shit these days, copious amounts. Well, that’s because of the foods I eat: lots of onion, veggies, fruit, garlic, blue-green leafy greens, beans, oats, lots of water all day….So, yeah, I’m talking literally. Although for anyone who has read my blogs etc, I’ve never tended to be constipative (my derivative of a verb from constipation) in expressing myself in writing either. I’ve often tended towards the diarrhetic side. It will be a life-long work-in-progress to write more leanly, concisely and to bring my points to the tip of the burg, rather than buried in its depths.

I’m brining it up as a health note in general; diet is very important as far as introducing nutrients and water into your body, since that is what you’re body is made of. The more real and raw the food (less processed and full of unpronounceable additives), the closer to the source and closer to being absorbed in your body. Point being that the more water to circulate through your body to cleanse and the more nutrient rich foods that circulate through your body, the better for your circulation and general health. Most causes of disease are inflammation: when things get blocked.

Analogously, the more real your feelings and expression, and intent in expressing your honest beliefs and sentiments to others, the healthier you are. If you’re holding onto grudges, and looking through the lens of anger, intolerance, judgement, etc., this is the stuff that is stressful; emotions that are stressing your physical body as you constrict them and tighten them into an armor. When these e motions have no-where to go, they start stressing out your own physical body from within; muscles, blood flow, organs…resulting in dis ease.

So, that’s my thought for the day. Health is about consuming lots of water, foods containing nutrients and letting oneself flow with emotions, rather than holding things in and letting the pressure build.

In fact the heart-rhythm mediation group I’ve attended talks about the four elements – earth, water, air and fire – each as cleansing. The movement through the earth of rhizomes, like a circulatory system, the motion of air, of water, of ions within the plasma of fire, all as cleansing. It’s the blockage or shrinkage from motion, that gets you into trouble. Holding your emotions in, is analogous to stuffing them.

As far as health practices, it’s about consuming more nutritious things, that naturally act to maintain health and strength. I’ve been boiling water first thing in the morning to which, once it has cooled down a bit, I squeeze a slice of lemon into the glass of water. http://cureproven.blogspot.com/2015/10/drink-warm-lemon-water-in-morning-for.html Then oats either alone or mixed with cereal, blueberries and plain greek yogurt, or once in a while eggs. My evening meals often consist of sweet potatoes and any dish I’m preparing will start with onion sautéed in olive oil and have plenty of spices (cayenne, chili, pepper, turmeric) along with garlic and typically cabbage, to which I then add whatever other vegetables. The Chopra Newsletter talks about “12 Foods to Help you Focus“. That’s why I have absolutely no problem with shitting. I’ve been adopting into my diet as much as possible the G-BOMB theme (nutrient dense foods) when I’m grocery shopping, planning and then preparing a meal. Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms & Berries http://wellandgood.com/2012/12/07/the-6-nutrient-dense-foods-that-should-rule-your-diet/#the-6-nutrient-dense-foods-that-should-rule-your-diet-2

I absolutely believe that we can live our lives eating well as a preventive measure to maintain health and that we can heal ourselves. http://truththeory.com/2014/04/27/is-there-scientific-proof-we-can-heal-ourselves/

It’s all about letting things go and letting things flow.

What Humans Currently Do | Excerpts from “The Universe Story”

Our Solar System arose 4.5 Billion years ago. The Earth has evolved – through a series of transformations – to even enable life to form.

From the beginning, as our universe continues to evolve in its cosmogenesis, intelligent intent is present – at all levels > towards differentiation, autopoiesis and communion.

Ecological Buddhism – A Buddhist Response to Global Warming

Presently, the human race enters the The Ecozoic Era.

Brian Swimme is one of the main people with whom to study, to understand the cosmological shift necessary to a new cosmology.

“As the natural world recedes in its diversity and abundance, so the human finds itself impoverished in its economic resources, its imaginative powers, its human sensitivities and in significant aspects of its intellectual intuitions.”

Devastation of Rainforest

Davastation of a Rainforest

Here’s a link to the footage of Forest Heroes from a drone of the devastation of a rainforest: Astra’s forest destruction in Indonesia.

“The pathos is that we are presently deliberately terminating the most awesome splendor that the planet has yet attained. We are extinguishing the rainforests, the most luxuriant life system of the entire planet, at the rate of an acre each second of each day. Each year we are destroying a rainforest area the size of Oklahoma.

Throughout the planet we are not only extinguishing present forms of life, yet also eliminating the very conditions for the renewal of life in some of its more elaborate forms.

We have moved from such evils as suicide, homicide, and genocide, to biocide and geocide, the killing of the life systems of the planet and the severe degradation if not the killing of the planet itself. We have moved from simple physical assault on the planet, to disturbance of the chemical balance of the planet through our petrochemical industries, to questionable manipulation of the genetic constitution of the living being of the planet by our genetic engineering, to the radioactive wasting of the planet through our nuclear industries.”

Our Earth, Our Home

I happened to look at this eloquent short video by Bitthu Sahgal brought to us through Upworthy. It brought tears to my eyes. Densely populated with images and edited so articulately that the message is profound. It is a testimony to our home, the earth, which humans share with all of its creatures. Our earth, our mother, is hurting, from what we humans have been doing. Human beings have the unique capacity to grasp this information, understand its implications and do something about it, before it is too late.

Below are several links to blogs I’ve written previously, regarding recognizing how precious our earth is, having compassion for the creatures that share this earth and leaning in to taking responsibility towards doing what we can to change our habits. We need to bring her back into balance, and make this our top priority.

If you are aware of any groups or individuals who may wish to listen to my intentions and help me to reach them, please help to guide me and put me together with those who may wish to financially help me reach these goals. My intentions are to continue to write, photograph, illustrate, compose music and basically communicate in order to educate the public about social injustice, raising peoples’ awareness about what they can do to have a lighter environmental footprint, advocating for animals through writing and producing music that gives a voice to creatures whose time is limited due to habitat loss and poaching as well as completing the writing of my interactive eBook which is geared as a multi-lingual educational tool involving a great deal of scientific discovery, for which I will compose music for a soundtrack. It all takes time, and it’s worth it. I’ll be happy to join a group full-time who are involved in projects of this sort as well.

My first intention was to blog this announcement: I must shift from merely writing blogs to gaining income through submitting articles to publications, and subsequently linking these to my blogs. It will be a much more convoluted process; taking the time and effort to research first what publications may want to print the information I write, and then after sending the query, waiting to hear from them. I have little choice, since I have no income whatsoever.

An article I will write promptly, is a social anthropological one. It came from a conversation that I had last evening, in which i was bringing up parallel points that are all cases involving increased community, at the cost of less freedom. The examples tied together are through people I have known who have delivered their first-hand observations of communities in which they lived. Hopefully, you will get to read this if one of the publications or internet magazine sites that I send the query to opt to print it.

“Home” a film by Yann Arthus-Betrand

Home is about earth’s delicate balance of life, and how Homo sapiens’ have dramatically tilted this balance in just the last 60 years.

Home, film,Yann Arthus-Betran

Home film by Yann Arthus-Betran

“In just the 200,000 years since arriving on earth, humanity has upset the balance of the planet, established by nearly four billion years of evolution. The price to pay is high, but it’s not too late to be a pessimist: humanity has barely ten years to reverse the trend, become aware of the full extent of its spoiliation of the Earth’s riches and change its patterns of consumption.”

This Koyaanisqatsi-like documentary film introduces us to our home, Earth, in a condensed history of the origins of life, showing us how inextricably connected all of the systems on Earth are; from the atmosphere, to the water bodies, soil and all of the vegetation and species. With lovely aerial images sweeping across different continents, it tells the stories of different species and particularly, in the various stages of human development, how humanity has depleted resources and radically tilted the planets’ balance, in just the last 60 years. It states that we have no choice but to have hope, recommending renewable energy and sustainable development practices among other tactics that we, the wise animals, Homo Sapiens, can employ, as we become accountable and begin taking actions to reverse this process.
