Addendum: Scalable Universe | Powers X 10 | Infinite Hierarchical Nesting of Matter

In April of 2012 I wrote about the Scalable Universe and the Powers of 10.

I knew there was a significant aspect of this blog missing, yet didn’t grasp what it was until the other day while researching for my eBook. I came upon the subject and realized that this was specifically what was missing. This added dimension describes the similarities of matter in space, in its trajectory, on different scales. There’s a name for this concept, the Infinite Hierarchical Nesting of Matter written by the Russian physicist, Sergey Fedosin. It’s a cosmological framework suggesting that matter can be divided or reduced infinitely, as opposed to atomism. It refutes, by definition, not only that matter can be divided, but even the concept of the big bang, that there was ‘a beginning’. Instead, this theory suggests that all matter has always been in existence, it merely changes form.

“The paradigm suggests that there are discrete levels of matter in which at each level or scale of matter (atomic, stellar, galactic) there are similar patterns of interrelationships, form and dynamics. In this case a neutron star contains about Φ = 1.62•10 57 nucleons, and by induction it can be assumed that the same quantum particles are contained in the nucleon.”

As I read further, I saw that various great thinkers and schools of thought throughout human history have discerned that this is so, through observing nature.

The funny thing that happened in the last days, which lead to a big ‘ah ha’ moment was when was sitting at a cafe continuing to work on this blog, I noticed a flurry of activity as a shop owner in a clothing store arrived, opened his store and soon after two families arrived. Then a young boy walked out with his new t-shirt on, with a design pretty close to the famous Escher of the stairs appearing to rise in different directions enmeshed in the same space, clearly not following our notions of gravity.

Sitting with my laptop, this sparked me to look up a book I purchased years ago (and haven’t read yet) by Douglas Hofstadter “Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid” because this image was associated with the book cover.

The following day, as I further investigated the subject of Infinite Hierarchical Nesting, I was going into this ‘rabbit hole’ of connections as happens with the internet; reading information on one page, then clicking on a link within it, reading that information…I went from ‘Similarities of Matter’ and then into ‘Scale Dimension’ where within this page -VOILA – was this obvious Escher image. What I hadn’t realized was that this book is intertwined with the subject matter of the hierarchical nesting of matter and its similarities at different scales.

I can not pretend to understand the mathematical proofs, nor even the symbology, although I just discovered a quite useful site, a
Glossary of Symbols, providing all of the symbols of physics listed alphabetically.

What I intuited was that there appears to be not only very similar constructions of matter as it grows into forms, both at the microscopic and macroscopic level, but as well, that the relationship of matter such as distances between interrelated parts, in differing relative sizes and speeds, from the microscopical world of sub-atomic particles and the relative distance of an electrons or protons to the nucleus, all the way to planets in relationship to their sun, the distance of stars in relationship to one another in a galaxy, and from one galaxy to another are similar.fractal holography, similarity different scales

Of course, I wouldn’t have thought of this had I not been exposed to the information regarding the enormous relative distance between electrons and protons in a cell. In which the electron is attracted to the nucleus by the “electromagnetic force”. The electron would on average be a bit over 10 miles away from the proton given the scale from the question details.

This science teacher gives a good analogy describing the sizes of protons and electrons relative to the nucleus of an atom, in terms we can perceive.

I just discovered this impressive chart which shows these relative distances in numbers. http://www.physicsoftheuniverse.com/numbers.html

I was already curious about the nature of life, but particularly became intrigued with the idea of similarities.

I had a dream once which made such an impression that it became pivotal in my curiosity. In the dream,

a man pointed to the spiraling tail of a seahorse, revealing that within this form is the essence of everything in the universe.

Years later I wrote about it in this blog.

This dream and the reference to the tail of the seahorse introduced me to the concepts of the Fibonacci sequence of numbers, the Fibonacci spiral and the Golden Ratio and the omnipresent forms in nature that exemplify this spiraling form in their movement and growth. It is observable in both plants and animals and present in the microscopic world in the way that matter is structured (from DNA to subatomic particles) to the patterns of weather systems in the spiraling of cloud patterns all the way to spiraling galaxies.

Here is a detailed lecture in physics given by an MIT mathematician Gödel, Escher, Bach – Lecture 1: Part 1 of 7 showing the astronomically high numbers of these relationships between matter on different scales.

This image below has only become available to humankind with the introduction of the Hubble telescope created by Edwin Hubble, a physicist who discerned in – Hubble’s Law that the universe is expanding (and is considered the basis for deducting that the universe started with a ‘big bang’). This telescope is strong enough to see beyond our galaxy of stars within which our sun and solar system move through, and is able to capture segments of ‘space’, in which every bright image you see represents an entire galaxy. NASA and CA Institute of Technology introduce the universe to the public in this feature ‘Solar System, Galaxy, Universe – What’s the Difference?

Infinite Hierarchical Nesting of Matter demonstrates a living example throughout the universe of the abstract object, the fractal, in mathematical terms, which has a self-similar pattern at every scale.

To appreciate the “human world” versus everything else, the 10 X power of 62 in a spiral image shows the expansion of 62 orders of magnitude (1062), so imagine each 10 as a level, where the one in red will be the 1 meter mark, which is approximately the human scale.

Scale of the Universe, x10, 62ndPower

Scale of the Universe x10 to the 62ndPower

It’s probably safe to say that all direct human experience occurs within 2 orders of magnitude smaller and larger than our bodies (by “direct”, I mean observation based on senses). Beyond that range, technology is required to visualize things, whether its a microscope, satellite imagery or telescopes.

The most recent “Flashy” version demonstrating this was achieved and produced by twin 14 year-old brothers for their 9th grade class. “The Scale of The Universe 2”.
